Porsche Leicester - 70th Anniversary Celebrations

I was invited to Porsche Centre Leicester recently on the 9th of June for their celebrations of Porsche's 70th Anniversary from when it was founded back in 1948.

It was a great event atmosphere with a variety of activities around the dealership for everyone to get involved with including a VR motion simulator, a bouncy castle, pedal car racing and a tough decision between the hog roast and ice cream on offer!

There was a great range of past and present cars on display in the workshop area which highlighted how the brand has developed and advanced over the years incorporating new technologies and design cues into their cars.

The main highlight for me was seeing the brand new Porsche 991.2 911 GT3RS for the first time which looks stunninng in Lizard Green; the subtle changes including the new more aggressive styling are definitely a great refinement of the previous generation. It will interesting to see more of these in different specifications as they start to be delivered to customers!

Another highlight was seeing an immaculate 1973 911 Carrera 2.8 RSR  which looked great in the classic Brumos racing livery! Being apparently one of around fifty cars ever made this was definitely a rare and expensive sight to see. Opposite this in the workshop it was interesting to see the Porsche Centre Leicester owned 986 Boxster S displaying a matching Brumos livery to the RSR. This Boxster is entered by the dealership into the Porsche Classic Restoracing Competition where different Porsche Centres from around the country are restoring and racing these cars against one another at scheduled events. A particularly attention grabbing car also on display in the workshop was a Porsche 918 Spyder in Midnight Blue which looks stunning with the Weissach Package additions.

Outside in the customer car park there were also some good cars that turned up to the event which included a very nice 997.2 911 GT3RS in the eye-catching  "poster specification"  grey with red details, a subtle looking Cayman GT4  and a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 from Qatar!
